Nakanishi recruits Kō for a rematch of the sandlot game from fifth grade. When Kō warms up with a few light pitches, Nakanishi sends him into right field instead, claiming he wants to play a fun game. Meanwhile, when Aoba plays catch with her little sister, Momiji, she's startled to learn that Momiji can handle her hard throws because she's practiced with Kō. Akaishi watches the sandlot game and is reminded of Wakaba's boast about Kō's abilities. With Kō's fielding and batting, his team wins in a close game. Afterward Nakanishi learns that Kō didn't join the middle school team, despite his constant training and surprising fastball, largely because Nakanishi had gotten kicked off the team for fighting. During practice, Aoba and Akaishi talk about unsettling rumors concerning the high school team, which has had a second straight losing year. In his office, Acting Principal Shidō tells a man dressed as a coach that he's pleased with his plans.
